The SV305C is a color entry-level planetary camera that offers good performance in planetary, solar, and lunar photography, making it well-suited for EAA (Electronically Assisted Astronomy) applications. At the heart of this camera is the IMX662 1/2.8" back-illuminated sensor, which boasts several key improvements over its predecessor, the IMX462.
Compared to the IMX462, the IMX662 sensor has three times the full well charge capacity, effectively avoiding overexposure and enabling longer exposure times. Additionally, the IMX662 features lower readout noise, no glow, and significantly enhanced near-infrared (NIR) sensitivity, particularly in the red spectral band, where it outperforms the IMX462.

Enhancing the camera's capabilities is a 128MB DDRIII image buffer, which helps to prevent frame loss or corruption by caching images and transferring them to the computer when the USB interface is not busy or interrupted.
The SV305C offers a range of additional features that enhance its versatility. It boasts a ROI (Region of Interest) function, allowing users to set any desired resolution by reading out a smaller area of the sensor, keeping the image scale constant while potentially increasing the capture rate. The camera also supports BIN mode, where 2x2 pixels can be merged to improve sensitivity.
One of the standout features of the SV305C is its detachable UV/IR CUT protective glass. This glass, which has a high transmittance of over 96% in the 400-700nm visible light range, can be removed to accommodate the use of external IR685, IR850, or UV Venus filters, enabling different shooting experiences.
The SV305C is equipped with a 1.25-inch universal astronomical interface, with a CS-mount at the front of the camera. It also comes with a CS-C adapter ring, allowing the use of both C-mount and CS-mount lenses for imaging.
Lastly, the camera's HCG (High Charge Gain) noise reduction technology is noteworthy. When the gain is increased, the HCG mode is automatically engaged, significantly reducing readout noise while maintaining the high dynamic range of low-gain settings.
